SUMMARY
Beside excretory role in elimination of many antibiotics, there is intensive
metabolism and secretion in kidney, which is essential for normal functioning of
many organs and systems. The use of antibiotics in renal failure is associated
with doubled risk of side and toxic effects. That is the reason why meticulously
modificated dosing of antibiotics eliminating or metabolized by kidney is
essential, particularly antibiotics with small therapic wideness and antibiotics
which cumulate.
Key words: kidney, antibiotics, renal failure
