SUMMARY
The paper demonstrates the results of clinical investigations dealing with the
postoperative complications in patients surgically treated for internal III and
IV grade hemorrhoids with stapler hemorrhoidectomy.
The investigation was conducted on 20 patients aged averagely 39.6 years
(ranging from 28-53 years), out of whom 12 were men (60%) and 8 were women
(40%). In all of them, internal grade III and IV hemorrhoides were confirmed,
with a certain degree of mucosal prolapse.
In the postoperative period in 15 patients (75%) pain value was registered in
the range 2.5-3.5 by the VAS scale, while in 5 examinees the pain was intensity
below 2.5, whereas 15 examinees (75%) used analgetics in the period of up to 5
postoperative days (average dose of 1 g of metamisole, ranging 500 mg to 2 g)
and 5 patients (25%) did not use analgetics.
Bleeding was not observed postoperatively.
In 1 examinee (5%) urine retention was documented and resolved with Foley
catheter. In 4 cases (20 %) edema of the perianal region as well as submucous
hematoma were noted.
Stapler application in hemorrhoidal disease is a safe and simple surgical
approach which could resolve hemorrhoidal bleeding, pain, prolapse and
represents minimally invasive surgical procedure.
