CONTRACEPTION FOR WOMEN WITH MEDICAL
DISORDERS
Milena Veljković

SUMMARY
This paper describes some of the issues which should be considered when advising
women with certain chronic medical conditions in making appropriate
contraceptive choice. Women should not be unnecessarily restricted and should be
enabled to make informed decisions about their choice of contraception. The
effect of contraception on the medical condition and the effect of the condition
on contraceptive use should be considered. The possibility of drug interactions
or secondary conditions associated with the chronic condition may influence
contraceptive choice.
