The paper gives a concise review of the implementation of the web-based systems
in teleradiology, radiological information system, hospital information system
and in other modern medical information systems. The paper presents PACS
(Picture Archiving and Communication System) and DICOM (Digital Imaging and
Communications in Medicine) that have been domesticated in the vocabulary of
radiological terminology and beyond. It points to the basic characteristics and
objectives of PACS systems and DICOM standards, accentuating the needs for
appliance of methods for digital signal processing and machine intelligence. It
is concluded that assotiated medicine and information technologies lead to the
progress of the mankind.
