SUMMARY

The aim of this study is to examine the epidemiolog ical characteristics of traumatic occupa tional injuries in rubber industry workers registered in the period between the 1993 and 2003. The occupational accidental work-place in juries are most frequent among young, less experienced workers. The injuries in occupational acci dents are most fre quent in May, on Mon day, between 8 am and 10 am. The most common type of occupational injuries were closed fractures, open fractures and dislocated fractures. Upper and lower extremities were the most frequently injured parts of the body in occupational injuries. These injuries resulted in 70.4 ± 5.8 days per injured worker, which is higher than in the literature data. These findingsare important for the control and prevention of occupational injuries in rubber industry.
