COMINUTIVE FRACTURE OF THE TIBIA CAUSED BY CLUSTER BOMB

SUMMARY

It shows 77 years old patient, who sustained one injury during his agricultural activities near Ni{. Injury was caused by his contact to one unexploded cluster bomb, recently dropped during several bombardments by NATO aviation on Ni{. Patient sustained multiple wounds (lower leg and scrotum), where is dominant severely eomminutive fracture of the proximal part of the tibia. Immediately after patient admission, reanimation was performed, AT and antibiotic therapy was administrated. The wound has been additionally opened and all aţascular tissues have been excised and removed. The fracture was fixed by Mitkovi} external fixator using convergent method of pin applications. Second day after operation it has been performed additional soft tissue and bone debridement. The wound is left opened and every day curettage is performed. The wound is dressed by bor acid in order to stimulate growing of granulation. The treatment is not finished yet.
