Abstract

This year, on First December 1999, the eleventh world campaign against AIDS is started with broader aim then AIDS prevention, oriented to health promotion and protection, since AIDS is described in literature as disease opening three types of epidemic: the epidemic of HIV infection, epidemic of manifested AIDS and epidemic of global social reaction on AIDS. The last epidemic particularly gathers attention of professionals in public health and leads to permanent public efforts through individual and community organization in order to control HIV infection. These organized efforts resulted in adoption the Global AIDS Strategy at international level, as guidelines for national and international programs. Based on the Global AIDS Strategy UNAIDS is developed as joint program on HIV/AIDS of United Nations and its agencies. The most important tasks of UNAIDS are development of policy in prevention and stopping HIV/AIDS epidemic, technical and other support, pleading for multisectoral approach and coordinated efforts against AIDS. Community efforts in AIDS prevention are recognized in our country by participating in goal achievement of the Global AIDS Strategy and developing our specific programs against AIDS.
