Zorica Šeguljev, Boriša Vuković

Abstract

Epidemiological characteristics of Morbus HIV in Vojvodina were analysed on the basis of seropositive prevalence in certain population groups and registered cases of disease. In the period 1985 - 98 seroepidemiological HIV infection investigations encompassed 2.757 persons. It was detected 106 anti-HIV positive persons. In the period of analysis AIDS developed in 69 anti-HIV positive persons. In Vojvodina, results of seroepidemiological investigations indicate that HIV infection mostly affected patients with hemophilia (29,7 %). Within the total number of diseased they participated with 34,8 %. Due to the fact that application of safe antihemophilic factors eliminated risk of infection in this way, homo/bisexual contact stayed as the main way of spreading of HIV infection in Vojvodina, during the whole period of follow up. Within the total number of diseased this category participates with 39,1 %. Prevalence of anti-HIV antibodies in IVN is low (2,2 %) but their participation within the total number of diseased in the period of analysis increases. There is extreme increase of heterosexual transmission and ratio of the number of diseased males and females is decreased from 9:1 to 5:1.
