In 195 healthy children at the age from one to seven years the ultrasound was applied to determine the kidney length and to compare it with the age, height and weight of the body. The technique used was a real time ultrasound one adopted to the pediatric age groups. The kidney length showed a linear correlation with the above- mentioned parameters; still, it best correlated with the body height. The kidney growth intensity was the greatest during the fifth year of life. The growth graphs were also made, that is, the nomograms for the kidney length which represents the basis for an objective inter and intraindividual evaluation of the kidney size.
