Regarding the fact that the sepsis represents an important cause of morbidity or event of mortality a fact and precise isolation as well as the cause identification are some of the factors that provide for its successful treatment. The application of the automated methods for continual following of the chemocultures provide for overcoming some shortcomings of the classical treatment. In the Institute for health Protection in Niš since 1996 with some short interruptions there has been an apparatus for continual and automatic following of the chemocultures, namely Bactec 9120 (namely, Bection Dickinson). In the two year's period 1354 chemocultures from various clinics have been treated in this way. There have been 24,3% of positive samples determined as well as 40 different microorganisms have been proved. In the first place regarding the number of the isolated is the Staphylococcus gender (59,6%) while S. aureus represents 18,15% of the isolated. An important place is taken by the Enterohacteriaceae family (15,35%) with the E. coli species and the Pseudomonas gender (10,4%). This method has also helped the detection of the polymicrobe flora. The average time of the microorganism detection in the chemoculture is 17,9 hours. It has been concluded that this method is helpful in detecting a great number of species in the samples, though the gram-positive cocci (S. epidermidis and S. aureus) are still the most often isolated microorganisms. The method provides for detecting polymicrobe in the sample thus making the whole microbiological diagnosis faster.
