A retrospective analysis has been done of the surgical treatment of the gastroschisis in the last ten years. There were 14 patients hospitalized in the given period; 8 of them survived or 57%. In the first five years two patients survived while in the following five years six children survived. The technique of the primary defect closing of the anterior abdominal wall according to Gross was applied as well as the technique of using the umbilical patch according to Zivkovic. The aim of the analysis was to point to the main factors that contribute to a higher survival rate of the children with the congenital defect of the anterior abdominal wall according to the gastroschisis type.
