The object of study is the hydrogeological influence of the Rautovac stream basin upon the quality of the Niška Banja thermal waters, namely, of Glavno vrelo and Suva banja. The influences of the atmospheric precipitation upon the temperature regime change of the thermal springs in the period from 1931 to 1999 are analyzed. The water temperature measurements started in 1931 and they have been kept for no less than seven decades with two interruptions.
It is stated that the Rautovac stream basin has a considerable influence upon the Hydrological regime of the karst-themnal springs in Niška Banja, namely, 85% of the karst-torrent waters drained by the thermal springs come from the atmospheric sediment from the Rautovac stream basin.

Ecological and hydro-engineering protection actions of the basin are suggested. The importance of the organized follow-up of ali the relevant parameters of the thermal springs' water quality is stressed for the sake of protecting the healing water resources of Niška Banja and developing the medical center.

The research was done at the Faculty of Safety at Work within the Master's studies dealing with the Ecological Engineering for Water and Soil Protection.
