The Sjogren syndrome is a clinic-pathological unit characterized by dry eyes (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) and dry mouth (xerostomia). It can be solitary or a complication of other auto-immune disease. A complex clinic symptomatology, an increasing freqency of the Sjogren syndrome, a still difficult timely detection, some new knowledge about the pathogenic mechanisms as well as a new approach to its treatment - these are all the reasons for the histologic and histochemical examination of the operation material of the salivary gland primarily from the standpoint of a histologic detection of the immunological markes. The operation material fixation was done in formalin, while the laboratory treatment of the tissue in the auto-technicon. The laboratory sections were dyed with classical and histochemical painting methods. In all the patiens the dominant were tumefactions in the parotid gland region, with less prominent kerastomy, while the eye changes were slight. In the histologic way the periacinous and the periduct lymphoplasmocyte infiltration was found as well as hyperplasia of the lymph follicles joined with hyperplasia of their germination centers. The setting-up of the diagnosis not earlier then at the salivary gland's operation material points to a very complex clinic symptomatology as well as to insufficient experience of the physicians due to formerly very rare while today all the more frequent Sjogren syndrome.
