An analysis, partly prospective and partly retrospective, was done on 110 patients of both sexes operated due to the non-resectable carcinoma of the pancreas head m the period from January, 1,1996 to January, 1,2001 at the Surgical Clinic of the Clinic Center in Nis with the aim to provide answers to the following questions, namely, what type of the biliodigestive derivation should be applied with these patients and should all the patients with the non-resectable carcinoma of the pancreas head be submitted to prophylactic gastroenteroanastomosis? On the basis of the operation time analysis, decoloration dynamics, hospitalization duration, percentage of the early and late post-operative complications and survival duration, the authors conclude that the best possible operation should be offered, that is, the one that assumes the application of choledocho-jejunum and gastroenteroanastomosis, except m the cases when an exceptionally short survival time is expected when simpler methods are allowed as well.
