EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT SUBJECTS OF VOLUNTARYRECREATIONAL ACTIVITY ON VALUES OF MORPHOLOGIC DEVELOPMENT

The research was done on the sample of 376 students of the University of Nis. The sample was divided into: experimental basketball group E1, experimental swimming group E2 and control group. Experimental program lasted 45 classes. Each class lasted 60 minutes (instead of usual 45). The influence of the programme on ten anthropometric measures was monitored. These measures were monitored in the way recommended by international biological program IBP). The initial and final measurements were done to establish the effect of experimental program. To establish global quantitative differences between the initial and final measurement regarding morphologic characteristics, a canonic discriminative analysis was used. The analysis of results showed that statistically significant transformation of some anthropometric measures occurred as a consequence of different treatment and other internal and external factors.
The results of two program models used showed that the effects influenced significant changes in experimental groups compared to controls. The changes were related to anthropometric measures otherwise influenced by external factors. The results show that changes occurred in anthropometric values of circular dimension and subcutaneous fatty tissue. Acta Medica Medianae 2005;44(2): 51-56.
