Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease which can involve any portion of the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the anus. The inflammatory process in Crohn's disease is transmural, involving the whole thickness of the intestinal wall, and possible complications are therefore numerous, including formation of fistulas, strictures and abscesses. Being considered rare in pediatric practice before, Crohn's disease is nowadays increasingly recognized and diagnosed in children of all ages. In fact, 25-30% of all patients with Crohn's disease present under the age of 20 and in approximately 4%. The diagnosis of Crohn's disease is established before the age of 5. The pathogenesis of Crohn's disease is multifactorial and the course is often unpredictable. The paper presents a case of a patient with complicated form of Crohn's disease.
