ONE HUNDRED YEARS AFTER THE BIRTH OF DR PAVLE JEFTIC

 Pavle Jeftic was a doctor and Head of the District Hospital in Nis. He was the first doctor of Internal Medicine and Histology in Nis. He started an initiative to build a district hospital, where the building of Internal medicine is situated today. His role in the Red Cross was prominent. During his fight against typhus, he got ill and died on February 21, 1915. In 1926, on his tombstone, it was written: “To doctor our friend - friends and thankful patients”. It is a unique tombstone in the world. Acta Medica Medianae 2006; 45(4):65-66.
