The paper presents 70 patients with gastric cancer diagnosis pathohistologically verified. The aim of the study was to determine the importance of gastroscopy as a reliable method for making the gastric cancer diagnosis as well as to establish the influence of patohistological result (PH) on localization and macroscopic result of the cancer as well as the outcome and survival time in these patients. The data are retrospective-prospective. The conclusions, besides the confirmation of the reliable importance of gastroscopy, also point to the fact that intestinal cancer type has slower development and better prognosis – five-yaer survival rate in 62%; diffuse type metastasizes through the lymphatic system and is characterized by a five-year survival rate in 5% in comparison to early cancer in 92%.
