About the study program
Integrated academic studies (IAS) of dentistry for the academic title Doctor of Dentistry last for five years or ten semesters – 4630 classes – out of which 1740 classes of theory, 2580 classes of practice, and 310 classes of other teaching forms (professional practice and diploma paper). Active teaching takes place in the form of lectures, practical classes and other forms of teaching (seminars, colloquia, consultations, preexam practice) and research work in the preparation of the diploma paper.
Student engagement in the study program is realized through active teaching and is expressed in 300 ECTS credits. Each course in the study program can have a different number of ECTS credits, but the total of credits per academic year is 60. Per each course, the activities have been defined for the fulfillment of the aim and outcomes of the course, and a student earns the points defined in the course accomplishing his preexam obligations and upon successful completion of the final exam.
The curriculum (teaching plan) of the IAS of dentistry comprises 45 courses – compulsory (required) and elective courses with the diploma paper at the end of studies. There are 38 compulsory courses, 7 elective areas with 19 elective courses in total, plus the diploma paper as an elective course. A student has to choose one elective course from each of the elective areas of teaching/learning.
