Basis of the problem: Impaction of maxillary
permanent incisors, a relatively uncommon event in dental practice, can
significantly influence speech, chewing, and facial appearance in
affected patients. Children are particularly susceptible to dental
trauma, especially during the first two years of life. Dilacerations are
often caused by trauma to a primary tooth. Dilaceration in the crown is
less common than in the root and occurs more frequently in the maxillary
and mandibular incisors. Typically, treatment involves surgical exposure
of the tooth, followed by orthodontic traction or extraction. Key words: crown dilaceration, dilaceration of tooth, good health and well-being, maxillary central incisor, primary dentition; permanent dentition, trauma |
