ABSTRACT


Long ago (1674) Antonie van Leeuwenhoek , father of the modern-day microscope, observed “ little living animalcules in his own dental plaque, and he concluded that “ there are more animals in the scum on the teeth in a man,s mouth than there are men in the whole kingdom.”
